How long have you been together?

Kev:-To long LOL 11 yrs Mikes my first gay relationship we met fell in love and been together ever since ahgrrrrrr pass the bucket. We are a team not just lovers Mikes my best mate he's always there when ever i need him.  

How long have you both been at the new foresters?

Kev:-10 yrs we started working there by doing a one off seventies night for the previous owners which was such a great night, we were taken on full time by our present manageress and friend Debbie took over from them about 5 years ago and invited us to stay on we did this and are now both resident DJs and assistant managers

Kev and Mike when you first come here what was the pub like?

Kev:- When we first worked at the Foresters it was a 2 roomed pub it had a label as being a pub for the girls lesbians and also had its share of rough characters.

Do you both think it has changed in the last 5 years?

Kev:- Definitely we had a refurbishment and made the two bars into one big bar and discouraged the undesirable people not to enter our pub.

What has changed?

Mike:- The pub as changed in many ways its bigger and attracts all gender including more gay guys, lesbians, transvestites, transsexuals and many heterosexual customers.  We now have cabaret acts, male strippers, female strippers, karaoke and my partner Kev and myself do drag as Amber and Sapphire. Amber also does a cabaret show every other Sunday night with the help of our star from the bar Jay (Irish).  We now have a late licence which means we are open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening till 3am or until we fall asleep on the DJ decks LOL and late bar till 130 am Sundays. We Now have door staff to ensure everyone who joins us feels safe. We are one big happy family and I’m the daddy LOL.  We also do Nottingham gay pride and have won best cellar award and best pub in the whole of Nottingham 2006 so yeah a lot has changed.  

Do you like working at the New Foresters?

Kev:- Yes i just love it many of the customers have now become my friends

Mike:- The New Foresters is my 2nd home i love the people i work along side with and the customers that join us every evening but most importantly is the customers friends love me too.

How long have you been doing cabaret?

Kev:- I must have been doing it now about 2 years well trying to do it LOL but i have always had a really great feedback from customers and staff .

Mike:- About 9 years started when Princess Diana died we did a charity event customers said how good i looked and have been doing it ever since i class my self more a female impersonator as when i dress up i like to look like a woman where as my partner Kev Amber is more over the top and dresses to show this.

Do you both enjoy doing Cabaret?

Kev:- Once I’m on stage i love it but i put a lot of hours into a show although you probably wouldn't think so LOL.  I do everything from putting the show together the music costumes and performing it on stage ahgrrrrrrrr stress lol

Mike:- I  don’t really do much cabaret i normally see to the lighting stage props and music for amber although i do on occasions sing using my own voice

What is your Favourite one at the moment?

Kev:- I love the Lindy comedy sketch beauty and the beast but also like to do Liza Minellie and Dame Shirley Bassey.

Since you are the DJ's What is your favourite song ever?

Kev:-  hot love anything by t rex prince etc

Mike:-  Haven't got a favourite i play music to suit my mood

The Pub recently won the best pub in Nottingham award how does that make you feel?

Both:- Winning the award made us feel so proud of the pub and everyone who works there deb put every ounce of energy into it to make it a safe and friendly pub you go girl xxx

What is your favourite all time night at the New Foresters?

Kev:- Love Halloween its fab mind you pride is amazing and the lads night well every nite ha ha I’m greedy don’t anybody answer that

What do you both like to do when you are not working at the new foresters?

Both:-  We love having friends round but that doesn’t happen that often as we live near Mansfield but we love DVDs music pictures and gust chilling in front of the fire gust to romantics LOL and of course the odd rumble in front of the fire we love our holidays as well.  

What do you Drink?

Kev:- LOL vodka

Mike:- Larger n black or J20 because I’m always driving aren’t i Kev ??
